2026年、最初にお届けするのは「修理」にまつわるお話です。

昨年末、一人のottomanユーザー様からInstagramのDMでメッセージをいただきました。

 「大切に使っていたボールホルダーが壊れてしまったので、直せませんか？」という、切実なご相談でした。

送っていただいた写真を確認すると、ヘキサゴンパネルを繋ぐカシメ部分で、アクリルテープが摩耗により切れてしまっている状態でした。 

天然皮革は非常に高い耐久性を誇りますが、アクリルテープは柔軟性がある反面、使用による摩擦でどうしても負荷がかかってしまう箇所でもあります。

「またこれと一緒にプレーしたい」というお客様の想いを受け取り、さっそく実物を送っていただくことになりました。

工房に届いたホルダーを拝見し、現状を詳細に把握した上で修理を開始しました。

まずは、前後のヘキサゴンパネルに打ち込まれたカシメ金具を一つひとつ慎重に外していきます。

パネル自体は良いエイジングを重ねていたため、革を傷つけないよう細心の注意を払う作業です。

その後、新しいアクリルテープを元の設計に合わせて作成し、再びパネルへと丁寧に取り付けました。

最後に新しいカシメ金具でしっかりと固定し、無事に修理が完了しました。

「形ある物はいつか壊れる」 それは避けられないことかもしれません。

それでも、自分と共に時間を過ごしてきた愛用品は、直しながらでも長く使い続けたい。

その「直して使う」という行為そのものが、アイテムにさらなる価値（ヘリテージ）を加えていくのだと私たちは信じています。

2026: Our First Handiwork – The Story of Restoring a "Heritage"

Happy New Year to you all. We look forward to another year of working with you and supporting your passion.

Our first story for 2026 is about "Repairing."

Late last year, we received a message via Instagram DM from an ottoman user. 

"My beloved ball holder has broken—is there any way you can fix it?" it read.

Looking at the photos provided, it was clear that the acrylic tape connecting the hexagonal panels had snapped due to friction and wear around the rivets. 

While natural leather boasts incredible durability, acrylic tape is more flexible, making it susceptible to wear over years of heavy, dedicated use.

Driven by the user’s desire to "play with this gear again," we had the item shipped to our studio to begin the restoration.

Once the holder arrived, we assessed its condition and started the repair process.

First, we carefully removed each rivet from the hexagonal panels. Since the leather had developed a beautiful, unique patina over time, this step required the utmost precision to ensure the leather remained undamaged.

We then crafted new acrylic tape to the original specifications and reattached it to the panels.

Finally, everything was secured with new rivets, completing the restoration.

"Nothing lasts forever." Eventually, even the best gear may show signs of wear.

However, we believe that an item you have shared so much time with should be cared for and used as long as possible. 

The act of repairing and continuing to use a piece of gear adds a new layer of value—turning it into a true "Heritage."
